It?s Game Week here at iPhone.AppStorm, and all this week we?re going to have tons of reviews, giveaways and other good stuff, all centered around the gaming world!
Some traditions never die. I?m a huge board game fan, having practically grown up on all sorts of classics like Scrabble, Yahtzee! and Monopoly. I?ve found that some board games are the most incredible games out there today, despite the quick advances of technology.
In this roundup, I?m going to show you ten apps that will transition the amazing experience of board gaming to the palm of your hand. It?s up to you which ones you pick.

MONOPOLY Here & Now: The World Edition
One of the most iconic board games of all time, Monopoly has won over millions of people with its gameplay. For those of you than don?t know, Monopoly involves purchasing properties to the extent that you literally monopolise the board and claim rent from other players so you can be the most valuable player at the end of the fray when someone goes bankrupt.
Although playing against artificial intelligence in the single-player mode isn?t comparable to playing against your friends in multiplayer, this app still immortalises an essential gaming experience, making it a staple in your collection.

Trivial Pursuit
Tons of well illustrated text and picture questions are readily available in this recreation of the time-tested game, Trivial Pursuit. You can play with up to four players using Pass ?n Play and through Wi-Fi. You can play in either Classic or Pursuit Mode, both of which offer a great trivia experience.
One of the great things about this app is you have a fully customisable player profile where you can set your own difficulty of questions and time limits. The app does look quite impressive compared to some other board game imitations, especially on the iPhone?s Retina Display. A great buy.

Battleship
I?ve spent ages playing this hit-and-miss classic on my iPhone and I always go through waves of nostalgia. The app has done the game justice by presenting it with sharp and animated graphics throughout the app that really enhance the experience.
There are all sorts of twists in the app that aren?t featured in the real board game, such as super weapons and ?Salvo Mode? that keep this timeless classic fresh and new. The app also has two-player Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Pass ?n Play capabilities that add a lot to the replay value.

Chess (Premium)
Chess is one of, if not the most, well-known board game out there. This is one of the best chess experiences for the iPhone and has yet to be passed after a long time. Chess Premium supports both one- and two-player games, so if you?re too much of a chess whiz for your family and friends, then you can take on the AI with an adjustable difficulty level.
There is a nifty undo function if you accidentally hit the wrong square or you want to rethink your move, however that could put off more hardcore players, as it?s sort of a safety net. It?s as close to modern as chess can be, and a valuable purchase.

Risk
Risk is a real-time strategy game that involves preservation and the conquering of territories on a world map. You have soldiers in each locale that can attack other territories and the outcome is based on the roll of a die, influenced by how many men accompany both territories.
This is probably one of my favourite board games of all time, and to see it flourish so well on this app is just phenomenal. You?ll have hours of fun playing this graphically sound classic.

Clue
Clue, or Cluedo, is a detective-style game where you have to use the information provided to deduce the identity of the weapon, location and person of a murderer. The game features multiple puzzles to solve but lacks multiplayer capacity. Admittedly, this game is much more enjoyable in real life, however, that doesn?t mean you can?t enjoy some retro fun with this app.

Catan
Settlers of Catan is a board game known for it?s in-depth strategy and time-consuming tendencies, and is a superb way to get into the game if you haven?t already. You have the ability to compete with up to four players for settlements, roads and armies. Trade between players is also possible.
If you?re short of people to play with, you can battle with the game?s AI, all of which have their own individual characteristics, making each game a unique experience. It contains a scrollable game board with zoom that looks true to the original as well.

Board Game Collection
Many individual board games have already been mentioned, but if you prefer the classics and want an all-in-one experience, this this brilliant free app is the way to go. Featuring great games such as Nine Men?s Morris, Noughts and Crosses, Reversi, and many more, the fun is almost endless with this incredible bargain. You can connect to other players locally or via Game Center, so there?s a whole bunch of replay value in this app.

Yahtzee Adventures
Like I said in the introduction, Yahtzee is one of my most treasured childhood games, and I could not go through this roundup without putting it in somewhere. Living up to the real thing, Yahtzee Adventures attempts to take the experience around the world, letting you challenge AI in multiple locations across the globe.
There are a few modes to choose from, each offering different styles of play that will suit most people. The opponents all challenge your luck of the draw as you battle them individually, or you can take on up to three people in Pass ?n Play mode.

Scrabble
Possibly the ultimate word-based board game, Scrabble has been translated into an incredible app that offers the same (or better) level of enjoyment than the board game itself. Unlike other apps, Scrabble has Facebook integration and you can play against random opponents if you?re short of an adversary.
The teacher feature means you can see the best move you could?ve made after each go, so in no time at all you?ll be turned into a Scrabble pro. There are also leader boards on Game Center, which make you keep coming back for more.
